Customer Impact Notes (responsibilities of the customer)

CAD, Remote Downloader and HL7/emsHIE

  • Ensure that your Dispatch Center has received this message and verifies their firewall settings to comply with this notice.
  • CAD, Remote Downloader and HL7 modules may have different paths in your network and might require firewall settings updates in areas separate from the emsCharts web access.  Please verify your network firewall settings.
  • Upon restoration of service, instruct your technical team to restart CAD, Remote Downloader and HL7 services.

Tablet, Mobile and SyncPad

  • Tablet, Mobile and SyncPad may be used in offline mode to capture charting information for the duration of the upgrade.
  • Tablet service will be offline beginning at 6:00 PM EDT on the day of the event. All devices hoping to use tablet should be logged on and synced prior to 6:00 PM EDT on October 9th.
  • It is recommended but not required that all Tablet charts in progress get uploaded to the service (partial upload is okay) prior to the 6:00 PM EDT event for Tablet.
  • If you experience any issues accessing your Tablet service during the downtime event, place the device in airplane mode

  • Important preparation and troubleshooting information specific to emsCharts Tablet can be accessed here: IMPORTANT Information for the Use of Tablet During the Maintenance Downtime

IP Address Change

Multiple communications have been sent regarding the IP address changes that are inherent in this maintenance event. To recap, emsCharts will make the below changes to the IP addresses used by our API endpoints.

Static IP Addresses / Ports:, 5050-5069, 5050-5069

  • New IP addresses are available now for insertion into your firewall .
  • Scheduled for October 9, 2018 we will permanently cut over and change domain name resolution to these new IP addresses. A downtime of 8-11 hours will happen at this time. The exact time of the cut over is 11pm EDT

The impact to IP address changes will vary depending on how your website/solution is set up. Below are examples:

  1. If you do not whitelist our IP address on your firewall or proxy, you do not need to do anything.
  2. If you use a firewall/proxy that supports domain name whitelisting, you do not need to do anything.
  3. If you use a firewall/proxy that only support IP addresses whitelisting, you will need to work with your developer or web host to add the new IP addresses to your whitelist. We advise that the old IP address listings be maintained in your firewall settings for approx. 30 days after the maintenance event (November 8).

For Your Reference:

For your reference, the existing IP Addresses are listed below.
It is advised that the old IP addresses be present in your firewall settings for a minimum of 2 weeks post-event:

Paper Chart:

Attached to the right is a sample paper chart that uses emsCharts terminology to capture the most basic information about the record.  This can be used during downtimes (both planned and unplanned) to capture the information while the site is unavailable.

Remember, you can always use emsCharts Mobile or Tablet while offline and then upload after the system is back.
